Investment in Excellence

The series of workshops on reflections of personal and company values comprises two five hour workshops (10 hours). The design requires that the workshops be two/three weeks apart; enabling the participants to carry out tasks in their work situations in preparation for the second workshop.  They will be required to share their new experiences and reflections with the whole group in the next workshop. By the end of the ten hour session the participants will explore personal values, attitudes and beliefs and articulate them in no uncertain terms and begin to understand that they need to take responsibility of who they are and what they do.

Planning & Running Meetings

This 10 hours workshop is designed to keep meetings focused and on track, encourage participation without losing control, produce high quality outcomes and decisions, gain skill and practice in managing “difficult” behaviours and speak up and express opinions at meetings. Meetings can be a business activity in which good decisions get made, problems are solved, and groups of individuals become “teams.” This workshop gives participants the tools they need for getting more out of meetings and facilitate discussions, deal with disruptive meeting participants, keep to schedules, and accomplish the goals of the meeting.

Presentation SkillsPowerful presentation skills increase one’s ability to educate and influence audiences. Ideas, products, and concepts must be presented concisely and compellingly. This 10 hour workshop enables the participants to develop and deliver a clear, concise message that will quickly and effectively gain the attention of their audience. Participants will explore the benefits of a powerful presentation. They will create an effective, two-minute opening for a presentation then deliver it and receive feedback from the group on its effectiveness. Participants then will work through a five-step process to develop and prepare an effective message. Throughout this process, they will work on an actual presentation that they will be delivering in the near future. Special focus is directed toward asking the right questions ahead of time so that the presenter has a better understanding of their audience and content needs. In addition, participants will learn techniques to add variety, interest, and emphasis for greater audience impact.

Stress Management

Most of us struggle with ongoing pressures and demands from our work, family, and personal life. How we interpret and perceive stress contributes to how we react to it. Some people view stress as positive or negative, but in reality it is an energy force that can enhance or break down our health and performance. During this 15 hours workshop, participants will learn how stress works, understand their sources of stress through an assessment, understand the effects of stress, develop coping strategies, and create an action plan to contribute to stress reduction and improve productivity.

The Ethical Mind

Given the somewhat precarious, “hard to pin down” nature of ethics, for it to be well managed and become part of the fabric of an organization, there must be forces constantly in play around it. It’s like trying to keep a bunch of marbles on a table. This workshop has a number of features that are likely to influence behaviour.  It provides a language and conceptual framework with which one can talk and think about ethical issues. In addition to this the emphasis on case studies will help the participants to make them aware of the potential consequences of their actions. This series of workshops will be based on the interesting work of psychologist Howard Gardner and his perspectives on the ethical mind.

Using & Developing Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence is the capacity to recognize and effectively manage emotions in ourselves and with others. Emotional intelligence increases our ability to make good decisions, build relationships, deal with stress, and cope with change. During this 10 hours workshop participants will learn how to manage their own impulses, communicate with others more effectively, manage change well, solve problems and use humour to build rapport in tense situations. The two key social skills in this workshop are Social Awareness and Relationship Building. In the Social Awareness segment of the course, participants will increase their ability to accurately pick up on emotions in other people, thereby gaining a better understanding of their behaviours. When learning about Relationship Management, participants will further develop their ability to use the greater awareness of both their own emotions and the emotions of others to manage interactions successfully. Small and large group discussions and activities help participants to explore and gain a better understanding of these two skills. The final topic explored in this workshop is Social Responsibility. Social Responsibility involves recognising and assuming responsibility for the well-being of the larger group and for the other individuals who live and operate within that group.
